Help Keep out Neighbourhood Clean and Safe

March 2026 News from Saanich

Saanich Bylaw Enforcement staff work collaboratively with residents and District departments, various government organizations, community groups and social agencies to ensure public safety, maintain community standards and preserve the quality of life in our community.

Some key bylaws to be aware of:

Boulevard weed maintenance

It’s the responsibility of homeowners to maintain the boulevards in front of their homes. This includes managing weeds and other invasive species.  Other improvements or alterations to a boulevard require possession of a valid boulevard permit prior to commencing the work.

Parking around schools (especially at drop-off and pick-up)

Saanich enforces strict parking regulations around schools to ensure safety. Vehicles cannot park within 1.5 m of a driveway, and improper parking in, or blocking drop-off lanes is prohibited.

Pull-through lanes are for active, temporary drop-off and pick-up areas and drivers must not leave vehicles unattended in these areas.

Noise suppression bylaw

Noises that disturb the quiet, peace, rest, enjoyment, comfort or convenience of the neighbourhood or of persons in the vicinity thereof.  Construction and the associated noises are permitted from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

General parking

Vehicles cannot park on or over a sidewalk or bicycle lane or on a crosswalk.
